This is actually one I thing I learned early attending a lecture where the former a VP of Promotions, Dave Reynold spoke. He spoke about not getting caught up in the gossip and cliques just focus on your work. For some reason I really took that to heart and when I started interning I applied it. I never would engage in the mess that most people did. My personal advice that has worked wonders is to just keep a strict business relationship with messy people. Your work ethic will make a bigger statement than engaging in any gossip or being in any clique will do.
