The Art of Albums

The Art of Albums

I was talking about talking about how I love and still play Jay-z 4:44

album the other day.

Then the guy, Prentis who does most of my album covers asked me

where do I rank that album amongst all Jay-z albums.

It just reminded me that it’s a real difference in how men & women think.

For men, it’s like they hear something and everything has to be

some competition.

Us women we don’t be hung up on stuff like that. They can make

that a 2-hour conversation and we have the same convo in like 30

seconds and be over it.

I look at music as albums as period pieces. Like a work of art where

each artist has their phase of sonics, what they are going through

and capturing and the era we are living in.

What also plays a factor in music is what I was going through when I was playing that particular album.

Where you’re mental at in life will also determine your what you think about an album.

For example as a kid, I didn’t really like Lauryn Hills album. Now as an adult I love Lauryn Hill’s album!

But as a go through my albums & EPs they always have somewhat of a theme.

My Album “Enough” was just about being done with my crazy, done with crazy people and being done in crazy situations. Listen to some of those below:

My EP “Rise & Fall” is about the Fall of my abundant life and during the fall how new opportunities and theory of how idealistically it is impossible to fail. Listen to some of those below:

My EP  “16 Minutes” it was just vibes. Just wanted to write about thoughts that were flowing through my mind in a specific time frame. It’s a very vibey project except for DOM. See Below:
