What Makes Artists Worthy of an Award?
On the road to 8 Grammys I began to ponder what qualifies an artist to be worthy of an award. I personally think its about more than just creating a song, I think it’s creating something that resonates in the hearts and souls of people. Certain elements should be present for this to happen. But as I began to let you in on the process of creating my project, you will understand what I’m talking about. I’m going to show you what makes me and my music worthy of 8 Grammys.
Watching Mc Lyte receive her award made me think about how important it is to make a statement when a platform is given to you. I really enjoyed the positive things had to say in her speech after she received her award. We may have commonalities, people often compare my sound to MC Lyte and I don’t mind it at all considering she is one of the greats. I’m just more focused creating my own sound and my own path, I’m focused on creating Rochelle “Hot 16”. But people feel they always have to compare you to some one for example Nicki Minaj to lil Kim. Honestly I never really listened to MC Lyte beside that “Ruff Neck” song. Since people already compare us so much I rather not listen to anymore so I can focus on what I have been called to do. Keep watching and keep listening, for I have great thing in store for you guys!!
